Alliance Council Working for You

2017

With the release of the Heritage Kit in February 2017 – Alliance Council was the voice of the fan and worked with the Club to ensure that all jerseys were available with stars.
Also this was the release of the new women’s jersey with appropriate neckline.

2016

This was a busy year for the Alliance Council – here are some of the highlights of how we worked for the Alliance during the year. Much of this was covered during the Alliance Annual Business Meeting.

Women’s Jerseys

Led by Stephanie Steiner – a working group engaged to improve the shape, length and sleeves – and most importantly change the neckline to be closer to team wear as shown in the NYCFC kit below.

2018 Team Kit

A small sub group worked with the Front Office to provide input on fabric, color and to define neck tape, jock tag and neck hit detail.

Accessibility

We continue to believe that getting our General Manager and President of Soccer, Garth Lagerwey in front of fans is important. We wrote about the first post-match chalk talk, also we supported a Facebook live event.

Scarf vote

This continues to be popular. Our 2016 scarf vote saw record participation and a splendid winning design.

Constitution

Continued work to update and refresh our Constitution and Bylaws. As a Council we believe that these fundamentals guide us and should be revisited on a regular basis as we grow, mature and the Alliance expects more from the Council.

The updated Constitution was put out for a vote and recalled soon after. Some background is discussed here.

Ticketing, clear bags, mobile app

Council continued to be vocal and represent the voice of the fan to the Front Office. This was especially so for conversations about mobile ticketing, clear bags and MLS rule changes to stadium access.

Previous years have been equally fruitful:

2015:
In early 2015, with the hiring of a new General Manager, Alliance Council opened and reviewed rules surrounding the General Manager Vote and Recall Process to ensure that the club would always be in a position to hire the best candidate for the position, and to protect Democracy in Sports: the Alliance’s ability to have a say in the direction of their Club.

2012:
In 2012, Council members started planning the Alliance Scarf Design contests which fans still enjoy. Council members helped create Sounders 40th Anniversary celebrations.

2011:
Council crafted a Constitution and Bylaws for the Alliance and requested a Charter from the club for future operations. These were ratified by general vote of the Alliance in 2011.

2009:
Alliance Council members planned the 2009 Supporters Summit as part of the MLS Cup festivities. Members of Council have advised the club on game day experience decisions and help plan the annual business meeting.
